Hungary hosts Iran animation screening

Hungary holds special screening session for award-winning and widely-respected Iranian animation ‘Prince of Rome’.

A local media report said on Sunday that the animation directed by Hadi Mohammadian screened as opening film of the 2017 Kecskemét Animation Film Festival (KAFF) in Hungary.

The film narrates the life of a Christian princess, Malika, mother of 12th Muslim Imam, Imam al-Mahdi, and granddaughter of the Caesar of Rom. The 75-minute animation features a narration of Malika's journey to Samarra in Iraq to marry the 11th Muslim Imam. She changes her name to Nargis Khatoon following the marriage.

Produced by Hamed Jafari, the animated film has grabbed two Diplomas of Honor at 33rd International Fajr Film Festival.

The animated movie was shown at movie theaters in the UK and UAE.

KAFF is two festivals in parallel: the festival of Hungarian animation films and the international festival of European animated features, TV-specials and TV-series.

The decision to organize a festival to celebrate both Hungarian animation and the city of Kecskemét itself was made over forty years ago with the foundation of the Pannonia Film Studio in Kecskemét.

Scheduled to open June 21, the 13th edition of the festival draws to a close June 25, 2017.
